Since having Hayden, I have always used the same brand of nappies. I’ve never really had a reason to try out other brands before, and the idea that some of the cheaper, supermarket brands are just as good has never forced me to give them a try. I am like that with quite a few things in life, probably why I can’t seem to reduce my shopping bill.
When Japanese nappies got in touch to see if I wanted to review their product, I thought why not try it? I have one monkey out of nappies, one almost out and little Kinley will be in them for a while yet. I still have time to be converted.
As the name suggests, they brand of nappies are from Japan. They have been working on supplying for the European Union for a while and are just beginning to tap into the UK market. We reviewed their Moony range with Kinley. After discussing their size range (I’m used to just a number if I am honest) and we went with the 9-14kg pack that come in a pack size of 54.
When I first opened the packet I was absolutely amazed by just how soft they were. By far the softest nappy I have ever felt. The big thing for though was absorption. Kinley drinks a lot! I need a nappy that I don’t have to change ten thousand times a day, and the Moony’s did not disappoint. I did find I had to fit them quite tight at the beginning, otherwise they would fall off quite easily. He also eats a lot of fruit, so I find his nappy area becomes sore very often due to the high acidity. Whilst the nappy rash didn’t disappear it did reduce. I really put this down to how soft and absorbent they were.
I was highly impressed with the nappies, my only issue is the packaging. Whilst I would hope people don’t need a step by step guide on how to put on a nappy, not understanding any of the packaging felt strange for me. I want the confidence to know that if I was to change from a brand I have used for the past 5 years, I was choosing a brand that I could trust. Maybe that is just me, but not understanding anything on the packet would probably make me bypass it in a supermarket.
The nappy itself is fantastic, I just personally feel if they want to be successful in the UK market they need to ensure their packaging reflects that to appeal to the masses.
I would definitely recommend their product to friends and family. If you want to learn more please do visit their website. Their online shop is easy to navigate and I can assure you, you wont be disappointed.
Japanese nappies sent me a packet to review, but all words, opinions and images are my own.
